Now that autumn is well and truly with us - and the clocks are changing - we are offering this online workshop to help us all prepare for the winter.

Julia Outlaw will interview Dr Eleni Tsiompanou, a Western medical doctor and Ayurveda practitioner, who will talk about keeping the organism in balance during the cold winter months.

Cost: £5

Health During Winter Dr Eleni Tsiompanou

We are all affected by the winter season and the changes that it produces to our inner environment - our mind, body and spirit. Depending on our particular individual constitution - a result of our born genetic type and our previous and current mode of life - we have strengths and weaknesses which can make us more tolerant of or vulnerable to winter conditions. If we learn beforehand the nature of seasons and our own susceptibilities, we can better prepare for the cold winter months. Join this session to find out more about the diseases affecting us during winter, and to learn what steps to take to secure health and well-being.

"Whoever wants to pursue properly the science of medicine must proceed thus. First, he ought to consider what effects each season of the year can produce; for the seasons are not at all alike, but differ widely both in themselves and at their changes… For with the seasons men’s diseases, like their digestive organs, suffer change."

– from Airs, Waters and Places by Hippocrates.

In this workshop we will show clearly how to investigate the foregoing questions so that we can draw conclusions about the mode of living we should pursue as well as the food and natural remedies we should use for health and a harmonious way of being. We will draw our learning from ancient wisdom traditions - in particular the Hippocratic tradition and Ayurvedic medicine, as well as from Western modern science, and nutritional and lifestyle medicine.

Three recipes, for a winter warming soup and a hot drink, as well as an Ayurvedic special tea for colds, will be shared with the participants.

Julia Outlaw will put to Eleni any questions received from participants in advance or in the meeting chat.
